The following are suggestions for a one day tour of the Macquarie Marshes starting from either Coonamble or Warren where there is plenty of accommodation to choose from. See map below.

Fill up your vehicle with fuel before starting out and check the condition of roads especially if there has been recent rain.

Warren to Coonamble or visa versa

Warren – information centre and wetland walk
Macquarie Marshes – book entry to Burrima 2km boardwalk before leaving
Carinda – check road conditions at pub and get a surprise
Coonamble – information centre and go on to Warrumbungles or Pilliga Forest

Coonamble Circuit

Coonamble – information centre – check on condition of Gibsons Way, book entry to ‘Burrima’
Quambone – then on to Gibsons Way crossing of Monkeybar Creek
Macquarie Marshes – ‘Burrima’ 2km boardwalk
Carinda – check road conditions at pub and get a surprise
