The NSW Government’s Future of Gas Statement outlines plans for the gas industry in NSW. The first map shows where gas development will be considered. Most of this area is prime agricultural land on the Liverpool Plains and the Namoi Valley. Three petroleum exploration licences (PELs) (PEL 1, PEL 12, and PEL 238) were renewed on 12 April 2022. The second map shows the locations of the gas reserves.
