Moonie

Moonie is situated on the Leichhardt Highway between the Pilliga and Chinchilla gas fields.

The first commercial oil field in Australia was discovered at Moonie. The construction of the first major oil or gas pipeline started in 1963 and oil flowed from the Moonie oil field to Brisbane in 1964.
