Leard State Forest
Drive along the Kamilaroi Highway between Narrabri & Boggabri. Three roads to the east will take you to see the destruction of the Leard State Forest by Whitehaven Coal.
Visitors are welcome to camp on Cliff Wallace’s farm at the Wando Conservation and Cultural Centre 5km down Black Mountain Creek Road, Maules Creek. Bring your camping gear, communal meals, or cook your own if preferred. Camp has flush toilets, maybe warm shower, kitchen, excellent drinking water. Donation of $10 per night to cover costs of food and utilities.
