Hunter Gas Pipeline

The Hunter Gas Pipeline is set to stretch 833km from Queensland to Newcastle and will link Narrabri Gas to the domestic gas network.

A private investigator, hired by 350.org Australia to uncover dodgy fossil fuel projects, found that the Federal Government’s approval of the Hunter Gas Pipeline was based on environmental assessments completed by a major shareholder of the same pipeline company! The “independent consultant” owns 10% of the project.

The NSW Independent Committee Against Corruption (ICAC) has exposed a separate shareholder of the pipeline, Hilton Grugeon, for trying to “curry favour” with a Liberal candidate.

Some landholders have met with the pipeline’s representatives and have been pressured to sign an access agreement but it’s not known if anyone has.
